DIY Air Hockey Table

Add a new use to your vacuum cleaner with this design for a low cost air hockey table. Kousheek Chakraborty and Satya Schiavina have shared the plans to build this project on Instructables, and won First Prize in the Games Contest. They drafted it in Fusion 360 and 3D printed the goals, strikers and corner pieces.

An Arduino Uno and LCD display keeps track of the score and when someone gets a goal the display changes to the player’s team colour.

The playing field is laser cut with a grid of tiny holes, which lets air escape at high pressure to levitate the puck millimetres above the playing field. By reducing friction, the game is “extremely fast paced and enjoyable”, says Kousheek and Satya.
